The Breede River Valley of the Western Cape, South Africa
The Breede River Valley region of the Western Cape stretches from Gouda in the west and McGregor in the south, to Montagu in the east and the Karoo in the north. The Breede River Valley is the largest fruit and wine producing valley in the Western Cape. The Breede River Valley region of the Western Cape is also known for its magnificent mountain scenery, breathtaking views, outdoor activities, nature reserves, ethnic villages and fynbos.

More About the Breede River Valley Region of the Western Cape in South Africa
The Breede River Valley region of the Western Cape offers magnificent scenery and is known for its indigenous fynbos and proteas. Worcester is the business and shopping centre of the Breede River Valley. A large wine producing area Worcester has 20 wine cellars on its wine route.

Robertson is the centre of the horse breeding industry in the Western Cape and a major wine growing area in the Breede River Valley region. 20 km from Robertson you will find the village of McGregor with its whitewashed cottages and well preserved Victorian houses. Ashton is a small village at the foot of the Langeberg and is the fruit processing centre for much of the fruit grown in the valley. At the Western Cape town of Montagu you will find the world famous healing hot mineral springs. Another historical town in the Breede River Valley region is Tulbagh featuring a wealth of charming Cape Dutch architecture.

The hot climate of the Western Cape is beneficial to wine producing and the production of fortified desert wines like Hanepoot and Muscadel are especially suited to this climate. More than 50 wine estates are incorporated into various wine routes within the Breede River Valley with the popular Route 62 marketed as one of the longest wine routes in the world. The towering Du Toit Kloof Mountains offer incredible views over the Western Cape Breede River Valley as one comes across the pass.
