More About Property in the Northern Cape The capital of the Northern Cape is Kimberley, famous for its production of diamonds in South Africa. Kimberley is a large town filled with rich history and only 175 km from Bloemfontein. Kimberley is home to many old buildings, museums and one of South Africa's most important art galleries. The most famous of its attractions is the Big Hole which was formed by early diamond mining activities. Upington is the other major city in the Northern Cape, as an agricultural centre it is renowned for it's grapes and wine. Another important region for property in the Northern Cape is the Kalahari with towns like Kuruman and Kathu. Kuruman has great history that dates back many years, and the mining town of Kathu boasts with a fantastic golf course that stands out like an oasis in the middle of the desert. Augrabies Falls National Park is situated higher north where the true power of the Orange River is demonstrated in a 90 metre waterfall. Linking the Northern Cape of South Africa to Botswana is the 2 million hectare sanctuary for wildlife called The Kalahari Gemsbok Park boasting with wildlife galore like gemsbok, springbok, blue wildebeest, red hartebeest, eland, lion, leopard, cheetah and many more. The Northern Cape is noted for its San rock art, diamond diggings, 4X4 safaris and the Kgalagadi Wildlife Park. It is a large, dry region of fluctuating temperatures and varying topographies.
