Randburg in the Johannesburg Region of Gauteng, South Africa
Randburg is situated in the Johannesburg region of Gauteng, South Africa. Randburg lies on the northwestern edge of Johannesburg and consists of 32 suburbs that were amalgamated into the town of Randburg on the 1 July 1959. The name is derived from the South African currency the Rand, which replaced the pound sterling in 1959. Places of interest in Randburg include the municipal art collection and a privately owned vintage car museum on the banks of the Klein Junskei River.

Randburg is well known for its many shopping centres and entertainment areas such as the Brightwater Commons, Cresta Centre, NorthGate and the Sanlam Shopping Centre. Randburg's Lion Park features 4 prides of lions of various ages as well as a number of rhino and other herbivores. The lions are enclosed in a high-security area while the greater park area is given over to the other animals.

Formerly known as the Randburg Waterfront, Brightwater Commons is one of Johannesburg's better-known entertainment, restaurant and shopping centres. The Brightwater Commons is designed around the concept of an urban shopping space. The refurbishment of the Brightwater Commons demonstrates a transformation from a stark harbor and warehouse development into a welcoming small town streetscape. It is well-known for its wide selection of restaurants which offer a variety of cuisines. It also hosts a large cinema complex, a mini-golf course, a laser-paintball arena as well as a broad selection of specialty stores. It is definitely an awesome entertainment centre well worth a visit.
