2010 World Cup Stadiums

The major soccer stadiums in South Africa will be undergoing renovations in preparation for 2010. The stadiums being upgraded for the soccer world cup include Soccer City and Ellis Park in Johannesburg, Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria, the Royal Bafokeng stadium in Mafikeng in the North West province, and Vodacom Park in Bloemfontein in the Free State.

New soccer stadiums in South Africa are also being built for the world cup in 2010. Some of the new soccer stadiums will built in Mbombela in Mpumalanga and in the Nelson Mandela Metro in the Eastern Cape. The Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane in the Limpopo Province will be rebuilt, as will King Senzangakhona Stadium in Durban and Cape Town's Green Point stadium. The Kings Park and Green Point stadiums will become completely new multi-sport facilities with Green Point becoming a retractable dome.
